Virgin 019: Lake Mburo National Park, Bwindi And Queen Elizabeth

Tour highlights:

Day One:

Leave Kampala early morning and drive westward, stopover at the Equator for refreshments proceed to Lake Mburo National Park via Sanga gate arriving in time for lunch (cost not included). In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip on Lake Mburo which takes you close to the Hippos, crocodiles and other wildlife on Lake Mburo. Dinner and overnight at the Luxury Mihingo Lodge, Mid Range Rwakobo Rock Lodge or Basic-Rwonyo camp. Meal Plan - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day Two:

After breakfast, you will go for a sunrise game drive in this park which hosts Zebra, Impala, Topi, Cape buffalo and other Plains game or a game walk where a ranger guide will take you through a Bush walking experience through the African Wilderness. The walk involves moving through the Savannah grasslands stalking the unsuspecting Zebra and other wildlife, through the Hyena’s Den, on through the swamp and ending at the Lake. Later in the afternoon you will be transferred to Bwindi impenetrable forest for dinner and overnight. (App 6hrs) Dinner and overnight at the Luxury Mihingo Lodge, Mid Range Rwakobo Rock Lodge or Basic-Rwonyo camp. Meal Plan - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day Three:

It’s D’ day! Early morning breakfast; proceed to the park headquarters for briefing. You will later be assembled in your groups and taken to your starting points where (carrying packed lunch available from the lodge at extra cost) you will go into the park guided by a ranger and begin your expedition. Tracking the gorillas can take 2 – 6 hours and can be a very inspirational, worthwhile lifetime experience where you will spend time with these great apes. You will return to your lodge and simply relax the rest of the evening or you may opt to have a guided village walk or visit the Local Batwa Community. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Buhoma Lodge, Mid range Lake Kitandara Camp or Budget Buhoma Community Bandas. Meal Plan – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day Four:

After a very early morning cup of tea/coffee, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park and have lunch then check in to your preferred choice of accommodation. In the afternoon, take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel. This is believed to have the largest concentration of Hippo in Africa, a paradise of local and rare migrant birds of over 600species among these include African skimmer, Chapin’s flycatcher, Pink-backed pelicans, Papyrus canary, and the rare Shoebill stork, from Europe and Asia, other animals like elephants and Buffalo can also be viewed here “quenching their thirst.” Later return to your preferred choice of accommodation. Overnight at Luxury Mweya Safari Lodge, Mid Range Bush Lodge or Budget Simba Safari Camp. Meal Plan – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day Five:

After a relaxed breakfast, you may depart for a guided nature walk in Kyambura gorge and visitors may climb through tropical forest and see chimpanzees and other primates including the Red Colobus monkey, olive baboons and plenty of birds all this backed up by the spectacular landscape and breath taking scenery of the rolling Ishasha hills and the “baboon cliff viewpoint”. Or go for a morning game drive. Later on transfer to Kampala having a stopover for lunch at Mbarara arriving Kampala later in the evening and be dropped off at your hotel or preferred drop off point.
